Child care providers must be licensed, participate in the USDA Food Program, and Guiding Stars of Duval. Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) Registration Information

VPK Program Overview

VPK is Florida's free pre-k program for children turning 4-years-old on or before September 1 and residing in Florida.

Children are prepared to successfully start kindergarten through activities that build foundational knowledge for reading, writing, and mathematics.

VPK Registration Information

2013/2014 Registration

For children living in Florida born between

To register for VPK you must bring the required documents to any of ELC of Duval's three offices before 5:30 p.m. Appointments are NOT necessary.

Once your child is registered through ELC of Duval, you will need to enroll your child at the VPK provider of choice. Click for a child care provider listings by ZIP code and ALPHABETICAL order.

2014/2015 Registration

For children living in Florida born between

Online VPK registration will open for the 2014/2015 school year starting February 21, 2014.

How to Enroll:

  1. Families will need to have, or set up, a working email address. (Yahoo and Gmail offer free accounts!)
  2. A link to start the registration process will be available on this page.
    Click Here to register for the 2014/2015 VPK program.
  3. As part of the application process, families will need to separately scan and submit supporting age and residency documents in PDF format.
  4. A list of eligible VPK Providers is available to view or download here.
  5. Once the application and supporting documents have been reviewed by ELC staff, families will be emailed their Certificate of Eligibility within five (5) business days. They must then print the certificate and take it to the provider of their choosing, or they may email it directly to the provider.

Don't have access to a computer or scanner to enroll your child online? No problem!

Starting March 3, families may visit our offices during walk in hours (7 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.) to use our computers and scanners to enroll in VPK.
