Once your child is signed-up (scroll below to see documents required to sign a child up for VPK) you will be given a VPK Certificate. The white copy is yours to keep and you give the yellow copy to the provider of your choice. It is the yellow copy that enrolls your child into the VPK program.

A constitutional amendment passed by Florida’s voters in November 2002 requires a voluntary prekindergarten program for all four-year-old children by fall 2005. The program is designed to prepare four-year-old children for kindergarten and build the foundations for their educational success and is provided at no cost to the parent. This program is voluntary for children and providers.

If your child will be 4 years of age on or before September 1 and resides in Florida, he or she may participate in the VPK program.

|
Parents must bring child's birth certificate OR physician signed shot record AND 1 proof of Florida residency, (EXAMPLES: valid Flordia Driver's License; recent mortgage statement or lease agreement; recent utility bill or bank statement). The proof of residency must match the address where the child resides, which should be reflected on the application. A parent application for the VPK program is available at the time you sign up your child or you may download a copy of the application under the section IMPORTANT LINKS on this page.
